It only occured to me after the fact, but Susan Draws is now officially a year old! As a belated commemoration: A timeline is in order! With commentary by myself! In third person! Huzzah!
7/6/09: After nearly two years as an accountant, Susan decides that her art-person is dangerously close to extinction due to lack of channels for artistic expression while working the 9-5. In a desperate attempt to keep the inner artist alive, she makes herself a blog and sets to draw a picture.. but has no idea what to draw.

She continues to have no idea what to draw for the next two months.
9/4/09: Then the fateful post to start off all other posts and a general theme is unleashed: office rants. She initially draws pen on paper, then scans on the office multi-functional printer and posts images only, with minimal or no text. Drawings are initially crude because there's no crtl+z to utilize against mistakes. Also she has to make these quick cause she's drawing em in the office.

9/11/09: She attempts colors (coloring scanned pics at home) but quickly folds because it is time consuming.

10/15/09: The first significant typed rant is triggered by The Boys. "The Boys" are Susan's coworkers, all of which are male.
(http://susandraws.blogspot.com/2009/10/coffeemaker.html) Everyone gets aquainted with the boys.
10/22/09: On this faithful day, Susan's work computer dies, and the new one (outfitted with Windows Vista), does not have a driver for the office scanner. That is the end of the pen-on-paper scanned drawings. Susan starts drawing at home via tablet mouse on her laptop during the hiatus and discovers she likes this medium far better (ctrl+z FTW!!!). Drawings start featuring pink cheeks.

11/19/09: The blog takes on a whole new level of usefulness with the first ever (and presently only) Office How-To: "How to Motivate (and/or manipulate) your very own middle aged man in three words or less".
12/31/09: Celebrating New Years Eve! Yeehee!
1/11/10: Susan starts pinning her bangs up.
The significance of this is beyond me. Who even cares. I don't.

2/22/10 and 3/9/2010 and 3/31/10: Everyone gets to meet some of the boys a bit more up close and personal.
Those transition glasses still annoy the heck out of Susan and emobody all things crass, all things kitsche, all things common sense would govern anyone NOT to wear in public.
4/16/10: The first full-color feature! It was quite the time consumer so does not happen again for a good long while. Susan's friend Christina, Teddy's mama, prints and frames the picture to have and to hold forever and also to embarrass Teddy with when he is older.
6/1/10: Color becomes a regular part of the drawings after the epic June 1 Dreamer series inspired by my roomie and BFF: J.
6/24/10: Susan discovers a love for mixing funkylicious colors.

ReplyDeleteI’m really amazed with your posting skills as well as with the layout on your blog site. Is this a paid style or did you modify it yourself? Either way keep up the pleasant quality writing, it is rare to see a great site such as this one these days.I recently came to know about http://machinesuae.com/, their Office Scanner are very effective.
